Abstract

Minority languages themselves are valuable cultural assets; the reservation of such assets should contribute to multicultural education and the development of multicultural society. Since the explosion in technology has many implications for heritage language maintenance and learning, this study attempts to investigate the effects of infusing e-learning into the instruction of the Pangcah language via an experimental instruction. Fifteen undergraduates participated in this study. Content analyses of semi-structured interviews and teaching logs suggest that infusing e-learning into the teaching of minority languages can result in better learning effects than the traditional classroom teaching. In addition, cultural identity is a key factor for learning minority languages. Finally, in order to maintain the minority relics, the construction of a digitalized database is needed.
