Abstract
This brief paper will disseminate our findings about the effectiveness of virtual classrooms in training of teachers and validation of simulated students by comparing them with real students. These findings are part of the research project, Simulation Enhanced Training for Science Teachers funded by National Science Foundation –Research in Disabilities Education grant. The presentation will be divided into three sessions. First, the audience will be introduced to using virtual classroom in e-learning, where teachers can practice their teaching strategies on avatars of their own students and assess if their teaching matches their students’ learning. Second, our findings on the effect of simulation on teachers’ preparedness and awareness about inclusion will be discussed. Third, we will explain our current research work on trying to validate the simulated students by comparing their academic and behavior performance with that of real students.
