Abstract
The goal of U-learning is that students can learn whenever and wherever they want. However, existing portable learning devices have met with the dissatisfaction of learners according to the results of u-learning-specialized schools, particularly in regards to the portability of these devices. Therefore, there is a fundamental need for the development of portable learning devices to support effective learning. For the development of these devices, this research was conducted to determine the current status and requirements of portable learning devices at schools in Korea. The survey results on the current status and requirements of portable learning devices could be used as a guide to develop or improve portable learning devices for authentic learning environments.
