Abstract
The use of online communication for language teaching offers the possibility to pursue critical pedagogy principles by engaging learners in raising their awareness about the ideological constructedness of hypermedia while at the same time developing their agency as text writers and readers. This paper introduces a network-based project involving the collaboration between two groups of language education trainees from Chile and Colombia using a virtual platform. The project will be evaluated both for its potential to create cross-cultural communities of practice and inquiry around critical pedagogy issues and for developing multimedia literacy.
