Abstract

The purpose of our presentation is to introduce the results of our three-year project on the mobile English language learning. In Japan, students almost cannot spend a day without using cellular phones these days, and there are high expectations for mobile learning, however, the mobile language learning system is still in the early developmental stage. We have conducted researches on the integrated use of mobile phones and CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) for three years, and our recent research is focused on the use of multimedia mobile phones to prepare and review the study in class. Surveys on learners f lifestyle and learning style and English proficiency tests were conducted in order to see the effectiveness of mobile learning. We will present these results as well as learners f comments on the advantages and disadvantages of mobile learning.
