Abstract

At a college, growing in online learning as part of a new strategic plan, Program Coordinators and an Instructional Designer worked together to improve online learning for faculty and students by developing tools to be implemented in all fully online programs offered at the institution. We describe the initial stage of a larger transformational process by sharing how two new tools were employed to promote a successful course design approach in the learning process. The first tool is an innovative course template, now piloted in a Criminal Justice undergraduate course-redesign; the second a new online student support site. Both tools are integrated to better support both faculty and students.

What we show and discuss: The Criminal Justice Course in the new template includes support for faculty teaching the course as well as guiding navigation for students, and the newly developed, linked student resource site.
