Abstract
The “Teacher as Website Developer” program builds on historical evidence suggesting that the most effective use of technology comes when teachers are in charge of developing technology-based resources. The program helps pre-service teachers learn how to develop instructional Websites under the direction of their supervising classroom teacher in a pre-practicum field placement. To measure the program’s impact on pre-service teacher’s knowledge of technology and curriculum integration and common teaching practices, staff administered a two-part survey in four separate, consecutive semesters of a technology lab where they learned to develop instructional Websites for their supervising teacher’s students. Results suggest that pre-service teachers in the program gain significant knowledge of technology and curriculum integration, t(227)= 28.000, p<.001 and common teaching practices t(227) = 28.377, p<.001.
