Abstract
Mini-grants have been documented as an effective model for professional development. (Strudler & Wetzel, 1999, Strudler & Weiss, 2001). and have been offered to faculty of preservice courses in the College of Education and across campus at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for three years. The goal of the program is to provide faculty with a stipend and support so that they can carve out time to develop a technology enhanced learning activity for their teaching of preservice teachers. Our paper discusses the many lessons learned from working with faculty and the necessary steps to develop successful professional development approaches so that they can become accountable for their own learning process.
