
Considering Curriculum and Pedagogy: Preparing Students for living in an eSociety through Cross-Cultural Conversation in a ‘Global Classroom’

Abstract
This paper considers globally-connected student experiences as a means for training them for an emergent eSociety. It does so by emphasizing three main points. First, this paper situates ‘eSociety’ as a relevant term to demark the social and cultural life for which contemporary learners are trying to prepare. Then, this paper offers an example of the variegated transdisciplinary curriculum needed to prepare today’s student nested within this eSociety. Finally, this paper offers ‘cross-cultural conversation’ as an appropriate pedagogic style for transdisciplinary training, providing a brief description of a case of a ‘global classroom.’ Practical means for implementing transdisciplinary curricula and globally-connected pedagogies are discussed.
