Abstract

Abstract: Mobile phone saturation in South Africa is high and mobile phone organisations are actively targeting adolescents. However, the majority of schools have reacted by banning mobile phones in schools. It is the contention of this paper that mobile phones can be used in numerous educational arenas, and numerous arguments to this effect are presented. This paper specifically focuses on the use of games for learning, the development of mobile games for mobile phones in a developing world context, as well as raising debates around the use of mobile phones in education.
