More Questions than Answers: Responding to the Reading and Mathematics Software Effectiveness Study

There have been few large-scale empirical studies of the effectiveness of educational software in improving student learning, even though educational technology has become a ubiquitous tool for learning both in and out of the classroom. The recently released report to Congress, "Effectiveness of Reading and Mathematics Software Products: Findings from the First Student Cohort," (Dynarski et al., 2007) produced by the National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance aims to fill this gap.
