Abstract

Creating a course in the Canvas LMS can be challenging but with some basic knowledge the task can be easy and rewarding. The authors of this presentation are veteran online instructors and course designers who work at a university that recently changed its learning management system (LMS) from Blackboard to Canvas. This provided an opportunity for a complete overhaul of the curriculum as all courses were transferred to Canvas. In this presentation you will learn how to create a course from scratch in Canvas using best practices in course design. Emphasis will be placed on tips and tricks for making the course creation process easier and more efficient. Special attention is paid to the overall faculty experience and course creation process when transitioning to a new LMS.
