Abstract

Simulations provide an immersive way for the learner to become engaged in their learning process across various fields. In recent years, advancements in technology have allowed the development of dynamic simulations. Simulation affordances must also consider human nature and social interactions. Costs, audience, and accessibility are important factors to consider when designing and implementing simulations in education. Refereed online articles and other scholarly tools were searched for publications that identified the use of simulations in education for this literature review. Based on their relevance to the literature review research topics of simulation technical developments, gamification uses, and multidisciplinary implementations, forty papers were chosen.
