Abstract
This symposium will draw together the current research activities of several teacher education programs implementing electronic portfolios to address some key questions around implementation. For the last three years, ISTE's PT3 Catalyst Grant has been providing training and technical assistance to Teacher Education programs, to help them implement electronic portfolios. The invited participants will discuss the electronic portfolio implementation process, the kind of Electronic Portfolio Research we need, factors influencing the implementation of electronic portfolios, and an evaluation of available commercial systems and open source or free services available. Several of the papers will present rubrics for evaluating approaches to developing e-portfolios, informed by work products of national meetings on electronic portfolios sponsored by Educause/NLII and AAHE in 2002 and the first international conferences on the ePortfolio in 2003 and 2004.
