Abstract
In this paper the authors have discussed the design of a computer based constructivist tool for collaborative learning. This is a cognitive tool for developing metacognitive skills and understanding thought process of an individual. The tool facilitates creation of cognitive maps by the learners and work in groups to establish a given task. Students can draw individual cognitive maps and share their understanding of different concepts with the members of the group. Based on the feedback on individual maps students can fill in the gap in their knowledge structure and clarify misconception(s). Finally the students will work towards the establishment of group cognitive maps. This will allow the visualization of the process of learning through integration of distributed cognition.
