Abstract

With the upturn of computational thinking (CT) in K-12 education, teachers require a firm understanding of what CT involves, and how to develop CT in their classrooms In this context, the first author developed an online module for elementary school teachers focusing on CT in mathematics education The module integrates CT in the context of activities that help teachers develop both a conceptual understanding of mathematics and mathematics teaching with CT This module is available online and open to anyone at http://researchideasca/wmt/c6html and it was partially implemented in the mathematics teacher education program at Western University In this paper, we describe the characteristics of the module and present some of TCs comments about the activities
