Using iPads in Instruction: A Case Study

: In this case study, we documented how four teachers, two at the elementary level and two at secondary level, used iPads in their teaching. These teachers were part of their district-wide mobile initiative and were given an iPad to use both inside and outside schools for one year. The results showed a wide variety of iPad uses. Using iPads to provide individualized instruction appeared to the most frequent use for teaching both English Language Arts and Math. Elementary school teachers were more enthusiastic about iPad use than their middle school counterparts. Female teachers were more open to their district-wide mobile initiative. Such research is needed to understand the impact of the mobile technology on teaching and learning in K-12 education.
