Abstract
This study examined Taiwanese university students’ perceptions with regard to the effects of digital storytelling as they participated in two learning tasks designed to enhance their English oral proficiency and learning motivation in an English class. The results revealed that most of the aspects of the students’ oral proficiency improved slightly, including content, fluency, and pronunciation. With regard to learning motivation, digital storytelling was found to have the potential to provide a more motivating and relevant learning context that engaged the students, improving their attention, confidence, and satisfaction. The implications of the results for the use of digital storytelling in the language classroom are addressed.
