Abstract

Suggests that contemporary societal changes are sufficient to call for a new perceptual framework, encompassing a variety of educational providers and an unprecedented diversity of learners, for the role of higher education. Outlines postulates relating to the changing role of higher education and explaining the place of distance education. (CH)
