Abstract
Bringing UP Girls in Science (BUGS) is a demonstration project in the Department of Technology and Cognition at the University of North Texas (UNT). The goal of this project is to provide educational experiences in an outdoor learning lab for girls in grades four and five that will increase girls' interest, participation, self-concept, knowledge and achievement in technology and the environmental sciences. Uses of technology incorporated into BUGS include: 1) providing a dissemination platform to provide information to educators, administrators parents and other practitioners, 2) developing and delivering training modules about gender equity, and 3) managing and supporting an online learning community. The project is currently funded through the National Science Foundation. Data on the effectiveness of the project will be provided in this presentation.
