Abstract
This study focuses on the impact of technology use in the higher education classroom on student satisfaction. Technology Readiness (TR) is investigated as a predictor of faculty use of technology and student expectations of technology usage. TR is measured using the Technology Readiness Index (TRI), a theoretically tested instrument that predicts consumer responses to products containing new technology (Parasuraman, 2000). The TRI instrument was administered to 178 faculty and 795 students from selected higher education institutions in the U.S. Results show that faculty TR elements are a strong predictor of faculty technology use. Student TR levels provide a richer picture of student expectations regarding technology use. Student expectations regarding technology use do impact student satisfaction with the use of technology.
