Many coaches and athletes do not understand the importance of a good warm-up and cool-down program in regard to physical activity. Current trends have focused mainly on improving athletic performance with little or no concern with the process of warming-up and cooling-down. Running Ease is a computer assisted instructional software program designed to teach a student the importance of warming-up and cooling-down before and after any physical activity.

To obtain evidence that the software was effective a field test was conducted using a pretest/posttest design. The pretest/posttest design was conducted on thirty-two eighth grade students. A t-test for correlated scores was used to determines the level of significance between the pretest and posttest mean scores. The test results suggested that more courseware is needed in comprehending the importance of warming-up and cooling-down for physical activity.
