Abstract
The Vermont Institutes along with select other educational institutions are creating a preservice technology initiative that uniquely prepares teachers to improve student learning. The initiative documents growth in future teachers' results-oriented abilities by using a powerful new classroom and school simulation tool (simSchool). This session will share how simSchool is (1) Developing simulated K12 classrooms of students. (2) Implementing case-based simulations that increase preservice students' skills in results-driven classroom practices. (3) Documenting the impact on teacher educators' and future teachers' effectiveness in achieving student results. (4) Disseminating the findings. As a result of activities supporting these goals, simSchool hopes to impact preservice curricula, enhance preservice teaching, increase the percentage of new teachers who possess knowledge and skills in results-driven classroom practices and gather baseline and change-over-time data on the status of student results.
