Abstract

Although metadata standards such as LOM, IMS, and Dublin Core have been visible for many years now, few best practices exist to support practitioners in building tailored metadata schema and their associated controlled vocabularies. This places organizations in the weak position of being dependent on external assistance from sources that typically do not understand all the details and subtleties of the key internal business processes that are such elemental inputs for creating and executing an effective metadata strategy. This workshop will provide participants with practical tools and techniques for putting in place and nurturing an effective and manageable metadata strategy against custom prescribed roadmap for their organization.
