Abstract

In this hands-on workshop participants will learn about Squeak E-toys and its features and potential for teaching and learning higher-order thinking. The workshop also engages participants in using the tool to construct dynamic simulations. It will also offer information about an NSF-funded project in which Squeak Etoys has been used to transform STEM learning and instruction in middle and high schools in the United States. Finally, in an open-discussion forum, the participants will generate ideas for how and in what ways Squeak Etoys can be used to empower learners and to improve thinking skills in various countries represented in the conference.
