The term “multimedia” defines applications and technologies that include text, data, images, voice and full motion video objects. Instructional technologists develop a variety of multimedia products. This presentation will broadly categorize a number of multimedia tools based on the functionality of the tool. For each category, examples will be provided for Proprietary, Open Source and Freeware Applications. Increasing cost and keeping up with the updated versions of the multimedia tools in the market has been a challenge. This is where the concept of open source and freeware multimedia tools is very beneficial. The presenters will demonstrate tools from different categories that benefit the audience.
