Abstract

The concept of social emotional learning in education has rapidly spread world-wide (Camangian & Cariaga, 2021; Frydenberg, Martin, & Collie, 2017). Social emotional learning has become policy in many schools and districts in the United States and has been incorporated into state and national standards in other nations. This increased emphasis on bringing social emotional learning (SEL) into the classroom, often without accompanying training and resources, has led to an incredible market opportunity for educational technology developers. This “birds of a feather” conversation is intended to be a moment of pause and critical reflection to enhance dialogues around the role of technology in advancing social emotional learning. Participants should review apps that aim to promote social emotional learning, such as ClassCraft, GoNoodle, ClassDojo, and Kickboard.
