Abstract

Recent events have required that Composition courses become facilitated online and digital technologies transfer static lessons into critical thinking learning environments for more student-centered engaging programs; however, most programs require certain educational goals and outcomes be met. Technologies were abundantly available, but most faculty were using technology for technology’s sake rather than focusing on how the digital tools could be used as tools to achieve stated educational goals. Instructional design often uses the order of cognitive reasoning to structure lessons to achieve successful student learning. Bloom’s Taxonomy now Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy is a way to integrate technology and focus on 21st Century skills that rely on cognitive reasoning for successful student-centered learning. Integration proved labor-intensive with diverse perspectives. This paper will focus on defining Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy and the process of integrating technology into the Composition Course.
