The Diversity Resource Center Database: Utilizing technology in education to create social equality.

This brief paper focuses on the development of a Diversity Resource Center (DRC) database by faculty in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Virginia Tech. The Diversity Resources Center database contributes a unique resource that seamlessly integrates an Internet-based database into the teaching and learning of diversity. This brief paper describes the conceptualization and creation of the Diversity Resource Database. The goal of this paper is twofold. First, we will discuss the initial phases of the research process, which include the following: identifying the need for a diversity resources database, the conceptualization of the database, the classification rubric for the selection of resources, the creation of the database itself and the expansion of the database resources. Secondly, we will provide a thematic, narrative analysis of the types of resources that have been included in this database thus far.
