Abstract

This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the current status of learning objects and identifies some important issues for future development. It gives a broad overview of the standardization efforts that are taking place with learning objects and describes current development efforts such as repositories. Finally, it examines the issue of how effective are learning objects and describes a framework for incorporating pedagogic principles in the design of e-learning systems based on learning objects.
