Abstract

This session focuses on the OSU Foreign Language Technology Certification (FLTC), a hybrid course that blends online work with face-to-face contact with instructors. The purpose of the Foreign Language Technology Certificate is to provide future instructors with a solid introduction to the instructional technology tools necessary to bring authentic language, culture, and literature to their students and to understand the role of the technologies used. Students develop software skills addressing web site design basics, audio, video, and image editing techniques. In addition, the students are introduced to the principles of instructional design necessary for the integration of multimedia technology into the teaching/learning process. The presenter will discuss the mission of the FLTC, its organization, the software programs and experiences that form the basis of the course, the projects that students are asked to complete, issues that have arisen, and plans for expanding the program.
