Abstract

Distance education has a long history in Norway. Traditional correspondence institutes based their services on printed material and postal services. They are now gradually incorporating new media and modern information technology into their material, or even completely changing their delivery methods and contact with clients. The revisions have been going on for some years already, but have been accelerating lately as a consequence of the availability and popularity of electronic networks, e.g. the Internet, WWW (World Wide Web), and public awareness of the new possibilities.
