Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to discuss why and how new digital video technology can be integrated in foreign language learning. Today digital technology provides a new framework as (a) it is accessible and affordable and (b) it simplifies the production process. In such a context, it is not unusual to observe that video making projects replace video watching activities in the language classrooms, particularly if teachers choose to adopt a constructivist approach to language teaching. The present study was conducted within the framework of the DIVIS-project (Digital Video Streaming and multilingualism). The objective of the presentation is to explore how digital video devices and current approaches to video production can serve as tools for language learning. In the end of the presentation there is a reference to a study conducted among 450 teachers in 10 European countries and their viewpoints on video making and foreign language learning.
