Blended Learning in Teacher Education: A Content Analysis of Related Literature PROCEEDINGS

This presentation will present the results of a content analysis of the literature related to blended education in teacher education and compare it with an analysis of the literature on blended education in general education. Leximancer, an automated software program for discourse analysis of large bodies of text will be used to analyze articles on blended education in general and articles specific to teacher education. Major themes and concepts will be analyzed with both qualitative and quantitative methods and participants will view a concept map of the entire body of literature, another of the literature specific to teacher education, and another of the 101 articles on education in general. Emaphsis will be on finding major themes that are emphasized in teacher education and comparing them to those emphasized in the rest of the educational literature on blended education. Leximancer will be demonstrated, concept maps will be viewed, and participants will receive a bibliography of all 132 articles in the database.
