Abstract

The Distance Education Mentoring program at Purdue University Calumet is a cohort-based mentoring program designed to support and assist faculty as they develop an online course. After four years, most of the innovators and early adopters of online instruction have participated in the program. The program and its staff are now being challenged with trying to help the next wave of faculty prepare to teach online. This session will discuss the challenges encountered and share possible solutions for accommodating the changing needs of faculty members developing and teaching online courses. Results from a research study examining how faculty in the later offerings of the program and their experiences differ from those faculty who participated previously will also be shared.
