We focus on legal skills training in Japanese law schools and investigate more effective ways to learn professional skills, using technologies. Simulation is a realistic method and, therefore, we have developed a system—called STICS (STream Indexing and Commenting System)—to help facilitate this. In this research, we present an improved version of STICS and a newly developed tool, Note-Taking Soft, which is effective for posting comments onto video clips of simulations. We introduced these systems in a classroom and analyzed the students’ comments on STICS and their questionnaires. Overall, students who used Note-Taking Soft posted many comments, whereas the number of comments posted by other students varied widely. Both sets of students attached comments at important stages of the simulation. Nearly all these students believed that the new tool and the enhanced version of STICS offered them an advantage in terms of time-efficiency. It is suggested that these systems can help to reduce the difficulties and time-consumption of posting comments.
