Abstract

This literature review provides an overview of the blending of technology, professional development and the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). The first section of the review begins with background about the relatively unknown and misunderstood topic of the scholarship of teaching and learning by providing some of the philosophical merits and purposes of SoTL. The review then shows how the literature blends professional development and technology with SoTL. What has become obvious even at this early stage of research is that there is little evidence-based research on SoTL. That is to say, there is little research on these topics that goes beyond opinion and anecdote.
