Abstract

Based on the literature review, an approximate 60 minute online workshop “Learn to teach diversity” is developed to better prepare EFL teachers for working with immigrant students in schools. This workshop is intended for EFL teachers who are currently working with culturally diverse students (i.e. immigrants) in Taiwan. The purpose of this workshop is to facilitate EFL teachers’ superior understanding, compassion and appreciation for their students’ various cultures in schools. Workshop objectives: 1) Examine teachers’ culture diversity awareness in school workplaces, 2) facilitate teachers’ theoretical understandings of culture diversity awareness, 3) provide practical ideas and instructional information (hands on classroom activities) for teaching toward different cultures, and 4) initiate the development of a local resource network (i.e. teachers’ community of practice).
