This presentation reflects on the learning experience of developing instructional resources with multimedia by a group of secondary pre-service teachers. Data collection included surveys, classroom observations, interviews, and a review of documents. Participants included 17 pre-service teachers enrolled in an interactive multimedia course in an undergraduate teacher preparation program at a large western Canadian university. Findings indicated that participants valued their learning opportunity which enabled them to develop practical skills and pedagogical knowledge in using multimedia for teaching and learning. The new learning experience helped pre-service teachers gain a great deal of computer proficiency through practical experiences in developing multimedia resources. Some implications were drawn from the research findings as the ways of creating the future for pre-service teachers to be prepared for technology integration.
