This paper presents a Web-Based Learning Platform based on a super learning object (Chao Zi) with these unique features: self contained teaching objects, openness, capability of aggregation and evolution. Because the learning units of this platform are small and stand alone, it provides flexibility for both learners and authors. As a tool for personal construction of knowledge, it provides a learning environment in which learners can choose any Chao Zi to study on, to write notes, to make links with other Chao Zi and to communicate with other learners who study on the same one. All related Chao Zi, according to their semantic associations, are presented to learners. All learner-generated information related to Chao Zi contributes to the evolution of Chao Zi, which exemplifies the power of learning networks and distributed learning. This paper addresses three major platform components: Chao Zi, the learning environment of Chao Zi, and the service interface between both part.
