Abstract

This research paper was undertaken to analyze and explain importance of SSS for distance education then compare the strong elements of student support services of Allama Iqbal Open University of Pakistan and Anadolu University of Turkey. Following Elements of Student Support Services are compared: a)Regional services, b)Academic tutoring system, c)Printed materials, d)Broadcasted programs, e)Guidance and counseling, f)Resource centers and g)Assessment. On the basis of the findings following conclusions were made: Both universities adopt the similar procedure of student support services. Both universities' student support services are developing rapidly. AU students enjoy more facilities. AIOU has an efficient system of workshop (face-to-face teaching) as a part of its compulsory system, where as AU is lacking such workshops.
