Evaluating the Pedagogical Value of Blended Learning in Informatics and Mathematics Education: A Comparative Study

Blended learning is a growing trend among higher educational institutions. It has begun to change the nature of teaching and learning through an appropriate mixing of face-to-face learning and information technologies, which have impacted learning by providing a means of access to online resources. However, just mixing information technologies with face-to-face learning is not sufficient to exploit the potentialities of blended learning. To be successful, blended learning needs a pedagogically sound model based learning theories and pedagogical strategies. To evaluate the pedagogical value of blended learning environments a comparative study is proposed. This paper examines students’ perceptions of blended learning in two different courses where students completed survey questionnaires.
