Developing a College Orientation Course that Provides a Personal Touch: Blending Online Modules to Enhance Teacher Effectiveness PROCEEDINGS

This roundtable session will present the novel use of online learning modules developed to personalize university courses that traditionally have large enrollments (greater than 40). One such course is Freshman Orientation which is required at many universities and colleges. While the college and department sections of Orientation are tailored to address unique aspects of each academic program, there are common areas of instruction and information that are present in all sections. The learning modules, covering these common areas of instruction, are designed to engage students with custom-designed, interactive course content and interface with existing university resources and contextualize course content with existing materials on the Internet. As a result more student/faculty time is spent on quality issues. Roundtable participants will have the opportunity to navigate the course website and view the online student satisfaction survey.
