Abstract

With the goal of engaging participants in a program for preparing them to be state certified, mentors to new teachers, the Blackboard Learning System® and specifically the Discussion Board was used to support the program's curriculum. This allowed participants the capability of remaining involved with the program requirements and with each other during the varying spring break calendars of no less than five school districts. This strategy as outlined in this paper, presented a variety of benefits to the teacher participants much beyond what the program planners had anticipated.
