Abstract
Many studies have been done related to traditional face-to-face teaching and the learning process of English as a foreign language. But little has been said about the use of online environments to teach and learn English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Nowadays, globalization and the Internet have influenced education in a number of aspects, such as enhancing students’ motivation while performing asynchronous activities, and facilitating courses from any part of the world. Of course, the idea of taking classes with convenient and flexible schedules, from home, through an independent study process is very attractive. Colombia hasn’t been excluded from these changes in the educational system and several universities are offering Online Degrees to the entire student population, including Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). This study reports on a survey of the perceptions of college-EFL- students in an Online Environment within Colombia.
