Abstract

The current research attempts to examine the social presence and collective efficacy during the international Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) program. The international CMC program is organized with online collaborative settings to enhance participants’ active interaction. The examinations were delivered to 18 Korean university students, and their social presence and collective efficacy perception were measured before and after the program. Firstly, the social presence and collective efficacy comparison were delivered between the international CMC group and face-to-face group. The results showed that the CMC group perceived appropriate social presence and collective efficacy as the face-to-face group. Furthermore, the analysis of the correlation between collective efficacy/social presence and students’ satisfaction with the curriculum was delivered.
