Abstract

Whilst mobile learning has been predicted to be the next stage in the global e-learning project, the development of m-learning modules is usually beyond the scope of the ordinary teacher or even Web-based training organisation. This paper proposes an XML format suitable for portable e-learning content and presents a sample implementation, based on freely available tools. The outcome is elegant, rapid publication of e-learning content, which may be placed on CD, on the Web or on a PocketPC. The content and navigation system may be updated on the fly without the need to rebuild the entire learning framework. The benefits of this solution to e-learning development are discussed.
