Abstract

With increased demand for educational performance standards, technology is being challenged on the role it plays in education. Cuban (2001) poses three goals for technology and Robyler (2003) provides an analysis for the facets of technology. Yet a new technology such as handheld computing must confront the same recurring questions on its effectiveness and potentiality. Handheld technologies meet not only the potential and possibility of other technologies, but a case can be made for how it can further teaching and learning.
