In an e-learning platform, the learning content plays an important role in the process of management of academic knowledge (MAK), which constitutes the main objective of any institution of higher education. However, if the current tools mitigate the technical constraints, they do not provide real help to develop quality learning content.
This work is at the heart of this issue. Starting from the fact that an effective MAK requires an appropriate mix of pedagogical aspects and technologies, we propose to develop a model, based on the principles of socio-constructivist approach, which describes how to formalize and develop learning content within an e-learning platform dedicated to higher education.
In this model, the process of content development revolves around two main aspects: “Design” and “Development”. The objective is to develop a reference model for the production of quality learning contents, specific to e-learning, in order to foster the MAK of learners.
