Abstract

This paper explores the Massively Open Online Course (MOOC) phenomenon and its potential impact upon the strategies of well-established online higher education institutions such as the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) by applying a Strength Weakness Opportunity Threat (SWOT) analysis. While the specific case of UMUC is examined here, other institutions may also find the approach of value when considering their own strategic responses to MOOCs.
